About OpenStudio desktop
OpenStudio desktop offers a simple and productive user experience for personal computers. It is an Open Source project, published under the GNU General Public License. The code is free to copy and redistribute.

As a truly lightweight desktop it's not limited to be easy on the eyes, but also on the hardware; Offering more resources to productive applications.
Fast learning and tweaking
Beginners will quickly master the graphical user interface. At the same time OpenStudio desktop can be tweaked and modified without limitations; The configuration is just as minimalistic as the graphical design.
Goals
OpenStudio desktop collects an optimized portfolio of free software, adds a minimum of code to build a user friendly desktop and provides documentation. This is the only effort.
Implementations
OpenStudio desktop is the production environment of the Swedish architect office OpenStudio arkitekter. The team has no interest in software itself, but share the focus on design and production work. Open Source software makes it possible to create an optimized work flow at affordable cost, where OpenStudio desktop runs on workstations, in virtual machines, as well as on server and backup stations.

Based on Debian
In order to provide a professional production environment OpenStudio desktop is based on the stable branch of the Debian operating system for x86 64-bit compatible computers. Debian is a mature and widespread Linux distribution and OpenStudio desktop inherits its benefits:

- Complete documentation.
- Well tested, stable and long time supported releases.
- Supported by most commercial software.
